Brian Eno Urges Backing to Propel Together for Palestine Track to UK Christmas No 1.

A charity drive is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the peak of the festive singles chart. The campaign aims to send support to people in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.

A Chance for Support and an "Unlikely Coup"

Composer and producer Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he commented. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a unique phenomenon.”

Resilient Spirit of Dignity and Freedom

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the version of a traditional lullaby called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the track's resilient spirit.

“The song holds a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “It’s basically saying that I would prefer a dignified death than live a life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we seek to lead a respectful existence that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”

Production History and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. Initially planned to be done as a live recording, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.

The diverse array of musicians appearing on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the scene. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a significant sum for charitable causes.

Creation and Launch

Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The song showcases a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.

The team running the project have clarified that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“We haven't set a rigid aim,” a representative commented. “We aim for the maximum achievable. Obviously, the greater the amount, the better. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The situation in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a vast majority of infrastructure said to be levelled or seriously harmed.

“In that context, a couple of million is unlikely to make a massive dent. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing that another narrative exists.”

The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a full recording of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
