Hulu to Bring a Popular Game TV Show from the Minds of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry game that players explored was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito as the bad guy, Antón, and came out back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it is known for celebrating action and madness with the same excitement, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed tales. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two producers whose work have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's popular video game franchise, the short-run anthology series will be available on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' style by having a fresh backdrop and group of personalities in each season.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, creator of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as lead producers on the series under their production banners, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had magnificent partnerships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a statement. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is original, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to appreciate our partners at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently greenlit for another season, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Having the opportunity together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, placing faith in us with one of the most iconic video-game realms ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their constant belief and support.”
“The aspect I admire about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology-style program. Every instalment is a variation of a concept, the same way every run of Fargo is a variation on a theme,” explained Hawley. “To produce a epic action show that can evolve from year to year, while always examining the core of society through this intricate and unpredictable viewpoint, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to work with Rob and bring our mutual unconventional, daring approach to the television.”
A release window for when we can anticipate the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
