Gun-wielding individuals have taken the life of an instructor and abducted at least 25 students in an raid targeting a educational institution for young women in Nigeria's northwestern region, authorities have confirmed.
The gang of attackers invaded the comprehensive secondary school for girls in Kebbi State's Maga area at around 4 AM local time on the start of the week, authorities reported.
The attackers "engaged police personnel on duty in a gun duel" before climbing over the boundary wall and seizing the students from their living quarters, according to a statement.
