Netflix Selects Ideal Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Season 3

Baroque Works is geared up to make a major impact in the next installment of Netflix’s show of One Piece, even if the real showdown isn’t set to occur until the next season, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has just been cast.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the skilled actor will appear in the One Piece season 3 cast and will portray Bentham. The role can use their power to transform into an exact copy of any individual they’ve laid a hand on with their right hand. Escola, who is gender non-conforming and prefers they/them pronouns, will portray a version of that figure reinterpreted as non-binary, as opposed to as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the original manga and animated series.

The new cast member joins several other fresh additions tasked with bringing Baroque Works to life, featuring leader Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, a talented actress as a key member, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the ensemble as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Although Bon Clay is a key figure of Baroque Works, the character won’t make their debut One Piece season 3. Considering season 2 set to cover the Little Garden segment, this marks a major departure in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal more adjustments to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and profound feeling makes them a ideal selection for the part. Along with their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for penning and acting in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, showcasing the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is set to return for its second season on March 10th, 2026.
