President Trump Calls Loved Ones of Injured Guard Soldiers to the White House
President Donald Trump announced on Sunday that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to visit the White House.
He added that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.
Information on the Tragic Event
Specialist Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on Wednesday in the nation's capital.
Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, continues receiving treatment in grave state.
Vigils across the state have taken place in their memory.
Presidential Invitation
The president explained he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the parents of both soldiers of the state Guard.
“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a difficult moment, visit the White House. We’re going to honor Sarah,” the president addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, recover or not.”
Public Support
Attendees gathered over the past few days at a local school in West Virginia to remember Sarah.
Both the soldiers had been serving with the West Virginia National Guard as part of Trump’s federal initiative to aid public safety in the capital.
Remembering the Soldier
“Sarah was the kind of student that educators desired. She conducted herself with inner fortitude, a warm expression and a positive energy that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the press. “She was kind, compassionate and always eager to help others.”
Service details for Sarah are yet to be finalized.
Judicial Steps and Policy Adjustments
Officials have accused a 29-year-old suspect with one count of homicide and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.
The incident prompted the administration to suspend refugee claims and halt granting entry permits to possessors of Afghan passports.
Status of Wolfe
The airman, a resident of Martinsburg, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.
He is still undergoing care and is “in a critical fight”, the state’s governor Morrisey said on a news program.
The state’s top lawyer the attorney general informed Fox News Sunday that she also intended to speak to Wolfe’s family.
Memory of the Fallen Soldier
Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in mid-2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.
“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” the governor told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
